In dry fire protection systems, water does not enter the pipes until a remote valve is activated by a sensor. Nozzle effectiveness in these systems is greatly impacted by the size of the droplet and the nozzle flow rate. From an efficiency standpoint, the smaller the size of a droplet, the greater the surface area to volume ratio. The greater ratio translates to faster heat transfer and faster evaporation and results in energy being removed from the fire faster. The N Series high-efficiency spiral was designed specifically with critical fire and explosion applications in mind. This nozzle features superior performance unequalled by traditional whirl nozzles. Two spray cones in the N Series – an outer, wide angle cone and a narrower inner cone – combine to give full cone effect; the extraordinarily large surface area of spray enhances evaporation and cooling. The multiple concentric cone spray, unique to the spiral pattern also maximizes water or chemical contact with the fire.
Compared to other conventional designs, the N Series spray nozzle sprays droplets that are 30% to 50% smaller at equivalent pressures. Its rugged, compact design is clog-resistant and consists of one part; there are no internal parts in the N Series spray nozzle.
