Enraf Servo Gauge receives SIL-2 safety recognition

Honeywell’s Enraf Servo Gauge has received SIL-2 certification from TUV Rheinland, meaning it is now industry-recognised as a safety system that can be used in hazardous applications such as tank overfill protection.

The approval means that terminals and storage facilities utilising existing Honeywell Enraf Servo Gauge technology can easily become compliant with environment and safety regulations, without installing any new hardware.

According to Honeywell, the 30,000 Servo Gauges already installed in the industry can become SIL-2 compliant for overfill protection with a simple software upload.

New users have the option of integrating the Servo Gauge SIL option into their existing safety infrastructures such as Honeywell’s Safety Manager.

Honeywell Enraf gauges are used in bulk-liquid storage facilities to assess holding tank content and manage tank inventories.

According to Honeywell, TUV Rheinland actually determined the Servo Gauge exceeded SIL-2 requirements when used in quantified safety loops, meaning customers that use redundancy can also utilise the device in SIL-3 applications.
