Energy Saver System ensures UPS is 99% active

Eaton Corporation’s new Energy Saver System enables large, three-phase uninterruptible power systems (UPSs) to operate at 99 per cent, which the company claims is the highest efficiency in the industry without sacrificing reliability.

The new system is designed to protect valuable IT gear installed in manufacturing and process facilities, and transport and infrastructure areas.

The Energy Saver System is part of Eaton’s new Energy Advantage Architecture (EAA), and drives UPS energy losses to nearly zero which dramatically reduces energy consumption, environmental impact and power costs, according to the company.

Eaton claims that its Energy Saver System can detect changes in power conditions and transition to the appropriate mode faster and more reliably than conventional ‘eco-mode’ systems, which are available with legacy UPS products.

Depending on the conditions, Energy Saver System UPSs can operate in standard, double-conversion, high alert or storm detection mode to provide flexible user-controlled functionality on-demand.
